A Journey Through the Years
 

2008 – The Beginning: Love and First Sight:

Tayla saw Rory for the first time at school and, in an instant, her heart was set. Little did she know, this was the beginning of something extraordinary.

 

2009 – The Grapes of Love: 

(hence why a vineyard is the perfect place to get married). 

In a bold and unconventional move, Tayla decided the best way to get Rory’s attention was by throwing grapes at him during break time. A strategy that, while questionable, certainly got him to notice her.

 

2010 – A Lumo Glow, a First Kiss (kind of) & detention:

Tayla invited Rory to her Grade 7 Lumo party—an event that would go down in history. Rory kissed her on the cheek, marking the first (tiny) step in their love story.

That week Tayla, the ultimate teacher’s pet, found herself in unfamiliar territory—rebellion. Smitten with Rory, she doodled his name all over her hand, a not-so-subtle declaration of her crush. Her love-struck antics didn’t go unnoticed, and for the first time, she was sent to the principal’s office. Totally worth it.

 

2012 – The Fortune Cookie Fate: 

Their story truly began in February at the school gala. Rory, ever the competitor, proudly showed off his swimming trophies. They were in the same house, and by the end of the night, something just clicked. That weekend, Rory asked Tayla to the movies. Months of laughter, late-night chats, and undeniable chemistry followed, and in October—true to his slightly delayed nature—Rory officially asked Tayla to be his girlfriend with a fortune cookie. The message inside? “Tayla, Will you be my girlfriend?” The answer? A resounding YES.

 

2013 – Dancing Through Life: 
Rory, ever the gentleman, asked Tayla to his matric dance on Valentine’s Day, making their love story the talk of the town as grade 10’s in the same school were not allowed to attend matric dances. 

 

2014 – 2016 – The Distance Test: 
Rory moved to Cape Town to study, while Tayla stayed behind to finish school & started one year of varsity. Three years of long distance, countless visits, and late-night phone calls only proved that what they had was real.

 

2015 – A Date to Remember:
This time, it was Tayla’s turn to invite Rory on Valentine’s Day, as her plus one for her matric dance. And of course, he said yes.

 

2017 – Finally Together Again: 
After three years apart, Tayla moved to Cape Town to study, and the two were reunited. No more goodbyes—just endless adventures in a new city together. Another reason why we love Cape Town. 

 

2019 – Back to Where It All Began:
After completing their studies, they both moved back home and stepped into the next chapter—building their careers, supporting each other, and growing as a team.

 

2022 – A Home of Their Own: 
After years of dreaming, planning, and love, they finally moved in together—creating a space filled with love, laughter, and maybe a few disagreements about what to watch on Netflix.

 

2024 – The Proposal:

A day they will never forget—12 years after asking her to be his girlfriend, Rory asked Tayla the biggest question of all. In a moment filled with love, excitement, and pure surprise, he got down on one knee and asked her to be his forever. Tayla gave the easiest and most heartfelt "YES" of her life.

2025 – The Best Chapter Yet: 
The year we say “I do” and begin the rest of our lives as husband and wife.
